It's a Great Show!

I want to take the time to express just how awesome Arrow is! Now that I went deeper into a few of the characters, it is easy to see that the characters are the biggest thing that makes the show great!

Felicity with her brains and her funny personality, add humor to the show.

Oliver is probally the most complicated character is my favorite. He is always trying to do the right thing.

Diggle, also adds humor to the show, but as the same time he often acts as Oliver's moral compass.

Roy is the the reformed bad boy

Thea is the reformed spoiled rich girl

And Laural as brought drama, humor, sadness, and almost every other emotion possible to the show.

Slade Wilson is a great villain, and he kept season two extremely interesting.

I hope you enjoy the show as much as I do! Keep watching if you watch the show, and start to watch if you don't already! You will not be disappointed! 

Laurel Lance

Laurel Lance was Oliver Queen's love interest for most of season one. She is a lawyer. She is the daughter of Detective Lance, and the sister of Sara Lance.  She was dating Oliver when he was stranded on the island.

Laurel, after getting over Oliver, begins to start dating
Tommy, Oliver's best childhood friend. However he is killed when Malcome's earthquake machine destroys the Glades. Depressed and sad, she turned to alcohol and drugs. without realizing it, her addiction took a hold of her life and she lost her job and her ability to practice law.

After Sara died, she decided to keep her memory alive by taking her place as the Canary.

Personality
Laurel is intelligent, and fights hard to get what she wants by working hard. She tries her best to stand up for what is right. She is also stubborn, which helps her in her career.

Slade Wilson

Let's try something new! How about a....villain!                   
The Green Arrow needs a villain to fight, who knew? One of the main villains in the show is Slade Wilson, also known as Death Stroke.

Slade Wilson did not start out a villain, he was actually the good guy, and Oliver Queen's friend. Slade was stranded on the island with Oliver. Along with Oliver, and Slade, a girl named Shado was also stranded on the island.

Thea Queen

Thea Queen

Thea Queen is the younger sister of Oliver Queen,
and the girlfriend of Roy. Her nickname, given to her by Oliver, is Speedy. She was once into drugs and drinking, but she turned herself around. She took over Oliver's night club and made turned it into a successful business.. For a long time she was the only main character on the show that did not know Oliver's secret, and was only told when her life was in danger.   

Her Relationship with Roy
Her relationship with Roy began after her stole her purse. They began to meet in private, and soon took their relationship public. Roy felt that she would be safer if they broke up, and with Oliver's support, Roy ended the relationship.

Her Relationship with Oliver
Thea is really close with her brother Oliver. She looks up to him, even before she knew he was the Arrow. It was an on going joke on the show that Thea was the only one who didn't know Oliver's secret.

Their relationship was put to the test when Thea found out that Malcolm Merlin was her father, and that Oliver didn't tell her. She eventually forgave Oliver, but not before she ran away with Malcolm.

Roy Harper

 A Quick Summary

Roy Harper is the sidekick of Green Arrow in the TV show Arrow. In the show, despite his youth in the comics, in the show he is portrayed as a teenager and the love interest to Thea, Oliver's younger sister. He starts out as a low time criminal, steeling Thea's purse. As he gets to know Thea, they fall in love. As time progresses, he becomes Oliver's sidekicks of sorts, but only after he is injected with Mirokuru. Now he fights along side Green Arrow to save the city.

Roy first became obsessed with the Green Arrow in the second season after the Glades had been destroyed. He began to go out late at night a pick fights with thugs, trying to stop them from committing crimes. Thea, of course, becomes worried about him, and begs him to stop, however his obsession to fix the evil in the city keeps him from stopping. One night, when he was trying to stop a rape, the Black Canary swooped in to help him. 

Oliver tracked down Roy when he heard of the new vigilante to ask him if he could uncover her identity. Roy agreed, and the alliance between him and the Green Arrow began. Over the next couple of weeks, Roy became Oliver's eyes and ears, he would report to The Arrow every couple of nights. 

When Roy was asked by his friend Sin, to search for her friend Max, he stumbled upon Brother Blood. Brother Blood injected Roy with Mirakuru, giving him maximum strength, speed, endurance, and reflexes. Oliver, knowing what the Mirakuru can do, takes him under his wing. At first Roy refuses to listen, his anger getting the better of him, however eventually learns how to control his emotions. Roy is eventually given the cure to Mirakuru, but his alliance with the Arrow remained. 

In season three, Roy is filled with doubt about his relationship with Oliver. He demands that Oliver never abandon him, and Oliver replies by saying never. This shows that Oliver really cares about Roy, and that he is willing stay by his side no matter what. This scene is also important because is shows that Oliver is extremely important to Roy. I think that their relationship is well established, Oliver sees Roy as a little brother, almost.Oliver is also a good role model for Roy to look up too, something that Roy never had before.

Roy and Thea

Roy first meet Thea Queen when he stole her purse. Laural tried to press charges, however Thea decided to have them dropped. She later visited Roy at his house in the Glades to get her purse back. She tired to talk to him, asked if he needed anything, but he told her to go away, and that he didn't need her charity. This annoyed her. 

Later, Roy and Thea accidentally met up at a coffee shop. Thea offered Roy a job at Oliver's club if he would show up for an interview. Although he said he would think about it, he didn't show up. Thea went looking for him, to ask him why he blew it off. Again, Roy said that he didn't want her charity. Upset, Thea left, but two men tried to mug her. Roy stepped in to help her, but he was stabbed in the process. While at the hospital, Thea kissed Roy to detract him from the shot he needed to get. They soon began to date. 

   

Thea didn't approve of Roy helping The Arrow, in fact she begged him several times to break off all ties the the Green Arrow, however he refused. He lied to her and told her that he wasn't trying to a hero, but he was. When he discovered that Oliver was the vigilante, he asked Roy, for the sake of Thea, to break up with her. And Roy did. 

Personality 

Roy has had a rough life. His father was killed when he was young, and his mother was a drug addict. He had a lot of bad luck, and he never liked to steal, but he was put in bad situations and needed a way out. When he stole Thea's purse, it was because his mother needed money for rehab. He despises the rich, because of their selfish ways, however Thea shows him that they are not all bad. 

Roy is prideful, but he tries to do the right thing. He sometimes has bad judgement, but with he the help of Oliver, he is getting better. 

                                                         

Oliver's Arrows

The Green Arrow, aka Oliver Queen, has many different types of arrows he uses to save the day.
Each one has it own special way of helping Oliver save the day.

The Grappling Hook Arrow: It is an arrow that had has a hood that sprouts out and it latches to a flat surface such as a roof top. Then Green Arrow and be lifted into the air and onto the roof within a matter of seconds.

The Voice Recording Arrow: This arrow is small, it usually sticks to a wall and is activated when then it hits it's mark. It is used mainly to record confessions.

The Explosive Arrow: This arrow is basically a bomb. Once the arrow hits is mark, it allows a few seconds before it explodes. This arrow is often used when Green Arrow is trapped or when he needs a distraction to get away.

Bola Arrow: This arrow release a set of connected ropes that tie around a moving object.

Non-lethal Arrow: This arrow is designed to injure a target by piercing the skin, however it will not do deep enough to fatally injure a person.

Double Arrow:  This arrow splits in two and can hit two different targets.

Felicity Smoak

 Background

Felicity Smoak was the second person to know about Oliver Queen's secret, and is usually the comic relief in the show. She worked in the I.T. Department at Queen Consolidated. She was first approached by Oliver when he would come to her and ask her to run test on things, and crack computer codes. He would make up lies, horrible lies, that usually went like this:

Oliver Queen: I'm having some trouble with my computer and they told me that you were the person to come and see. I was at my coffee shop surfing the web and I spilt a latte on it.
Felicity Smoak: Really?
Oliver Queen: Yeah.
Felicity Smoak: 'Cause these look like bullet holes.
Oliver Queen: My coffee shop is in a bad neighborhood. 

However, despite the horrible lies, Felicity did as he asked.

Felicity was added to the Arrow Team after Oliver was shot, by this mother, and went to Felicity for help.

 Personality

Felicity is extremely intelligent, she started working with computers when she was seven. This makes her an asset to the Arrow Team, however it's her compassion, trustworthiness, and her ability to  make people smile when things get stressful are what makes her emotionally valuable to the team. 
She often says things at the wrong time, and in appropriate manners, but she usually backtracks after realizing what she said, and begins babbling.

Her relationship with Oliver Queen 

In season one their relationship was strictly friendship. In season two, however, the relationship  began to deepen. It was starting to become clear that Felicity began to form feelings for Oliver, but Oliver didn't seem to return those feelings. However, when Felicity hit it off with Barry Allen, it is obvious that Oliver holds a little bit of jealousy.

The relationship that Barry Allen and Felicity Smoak had was short lived. They both realized that they were in love with someone else. Felicity was in love with Oliver, and Barry was in love with Iris. Barry went back to Central City, where he was struck by lighting, and later became The Flash.
At the season two final, Oliver tells Felicity that he loves her, but it is just a ploy to trick Slade, the villain of season two, into taking Felicity as hostage so she could help defeat him.
 But Felicity then confronts Oliver, saying that he was so believable that he had her fooled. Oliver didn't dene that his feelings were real, but he didn't confirm them either.

 In season three Oliver finally asked Felicity out on a date.
 The date started out great, the order the food, Oliver talked about his past on the island, it was going good, but then the restaurant was bombed. Oliver realized that while he was focused on Felicity, he failed to notice that someone had put a tracking devise on him. Oliver broke off the relationship, but not before he begged her to not make him say that he

doesn't lover her.

Then when Oliver is about to leave to face Ra Al Ghul is tells Felicity two things; first is that he will do anything to save his sister; second, is that he loves her.

I love the idea of Oliver and Felicity dating. I usually don't get caught up in the love lives of fictional characters, but I have fallen hard for "Olicity". If they do not end up together, I just might cry. I am fairly confident that they will end up together, but I can't help but be doubtful, especially with all the obstetrical that they have to go through to be together.

The fate of Oliver and Felicity's relationship is unclear as of now, but we can always hope that they will work things out and live a happily-ever-after!

John Diggle

John Diggle

John Diggle was the first person on the show Arrow, to know about Oliver Queen's  secret. He started out as Oliver's bodygraud, hired by Moira Queen, Oliver's mother. But as he soon realized, Oliver wasn't easy to keep track off. Oliver would lie, and sneak off, leaving Diggle  frustrated. However, after Diggle was shot by Deathstroke, the same man that killed his brother, Oliver brought him to the Arrow Cave, and told him the truth. After a little persuading, he joined Oliver in his quest to save Starling City.

Background Information/ Early life

Diggle was born on July 2, 1978. He joined the army after high school, were he serves a tour in Afghanistan. While serving for the second time in the military, John met Lyla, another solider he was on tour with, and fell in love with her. They were married for a little while, but things didn't work out and they ended the marriage. After the marriage ended, he went back to the Afghanistan and served for a third time. After he got back to states, he suffered from survivors guilt. Struggling to get a hold of his life, he got a job as a security guard.

His Life with Oliver Queen

When Oliver first offered Diggle the chance to join him, he refused. He called Oliver a murder, and told him that he had lost his mind. However, Diggle knew that the Starling City was being harmed by people who only wanted to get to the top, and he eventually gave in to Oliver. With Diggle now on Oliver's team, it gave Oliver more of a sense of direction. Diggle suggests that Oliver save people, rather than hunt down and kill everyone on his father's lists. Diggle is also calm in crisis, which makes him a valuable asset to Oliver.

Diggle mainly works behind-the-scenes, however he does sometimes come out and fight along side Oliver.

"Damn it Oliver, you would be dead ten times over if it wasn't for me!"

That was Diggle's response when Oliver told him to stay back for his own safety. Diggle's and Oliver's relationship as grow immensely since the first time they met. Now, the willing put their lives in danger for each other, and the city.

Personal Life

Diggle never had much luck with the ladies. A few years after his brother, Andy, died, he started to date his wife, however they both could not get over the fact that it felt like they were betraying  Andy. However, he met back up with Lyla. After they rekindled their love for each other, Lyla found out she was having a baby. She gave birth to a little girl, and they names her Sara, and Sara Lance, who had been recently killed. John Diggle, and Lyla are planing of getting married.

Oliver Queen

Oliver Queen was born into a wealthy family. Growing up he was a spoiled kid that never had to deal with any consequences. In his late teens and early twenties, he has several run ins with the paparazzi, he stole a taxi car, drove while intoxicated, and even peed on a police officer.  It doesn't take a genius to realize just how immature Oliver was. He partied and had no care in the world. He dropped out of four colleges--one an Ivy League. He was a mess, and  it was easy to hate the character.  However, Oliver soon begins to earn sympathy points. While on the his families yacht (cheating on his girlfriend with her sister), a storm rolls in, and the yacht sinks to the bottom of the ocean. Oliver is now stranded alone on an island, but only after watching his father commit suicide. 

At this point Oliver had earn a few sympathy points, however they are nothing compared to what he is going to get. 

So why do people love Oliver Queen as much as they do? Well, Oliver Queen is a complex character and although he does earn a ton of sympathy points (especially during his time on the island), I believe that people like him because his is honestly a good guy!

I know, how could the person mentioned above be a good guy? Let me tell you! The man went through hell, there is just no other way to describe it, and it changed him.And then he took it upon himself to change his city, Starling City, by getting rid of the crime, and those who are hurting the city for their financial gain. 

While on the island, he was tortured, starved, watched a love interest murdered, had one of his closes friends (Slade) turn on him, and he watched Sara get sucked under water, and "die"  twice. I don't care who you are, you don't walk away from that unchanged! All of these things have certainly earned him some sympathy points, however it is what he does as the vigilante Green Arrow that really makes people see him as the good guy. It is obvious that he really cares about the city and helping people, however he goes about it in a not so nice way-for example: often shooting people with arrows.
                  
Many people disliked Oliver or the Green Arrow because of his habit of killing the criminals. He saw nothing wrong with it, stating that he had to to what he had to do. But that all changes in the season one final. Oliver learns of a machine put in place by Malcolm Merlin, that will cause a giant earthquake that will destroy the Glades, the lower income area of Starling City. He tries to save the city, but time was not on his side, and only after he shut off the earthquake machine, did he learn about a second one. The earthquake killed his best friend Tommy, who was upset at him for becoming the Green Arrow, and killing people.

This scene is important because it's the first time that we see Oliver actually show any emotion, and we know that he is not as cold as he is coming off as. It is also important because it turns over a new leaf for the Green Arrow. Oliver vows to never kill another person again, in order to honor Tommy's memory. 

Green Arrow

 Oliver's personality may make him seem abrasive and at times, cold. However, Oliver actually cares about a lot of people, he just doesn't want them to get hurt because of him and the life style he now leads. He also knows how to lock he emotions away, making it easier for him to become Green Arrow. Like I said, these things make him seem mean, however it is what makes him a great hero. I believe that Oliver is just a little bit damaged (emotionally) from his time on the island, and that he tries so hard to do what is right because he is trying to make up for the sins committed on the island. That is one of the reasons why I love him so much, he tries so hard to make things right. And it absolute breaks my heart when things don't go right for him. Oliver also as subtle humor, he is the type of person who doesn't mean to be funny, but he makes small comments that make people laugh.

Thea Queen

Thea Queen is Oliver's pride and joy. He absolutely loves her.  This is another reason why I love Oliver; he loves his little sister. He realizes the importance of family, but he also knows that if she ever found out his secret, she would be kept safe. Oliver loves his sister so much that admitted to the a murder that she committed (while drugged by Malcolm Merlin), and then fought Ra Al Ghul, the world's best assassin in order to protect her. Oliver lost his fight with Ra Al Ghul, and was stabbed and then kicked off the side of a cliff. Oliver died for his sister. He died.

       
As much as this scene breaks my heart all on it's own, the fact that he did it so his sister could live absolutely kills me. And even though he is healed, he didn't know that he would be, he thought it was win or die. He he chose to fight for his sister.

I love Oliver Queen, he is my favorite character on the show, and he deserves so much credit for all that he has done.  I hope you all agree that Oliver Queen, though he has made mistakes, is a great guy!
